Homemade Lavender Bath Salts

Lavender bath salts smell gorgeous and can make your bath very relaxing and therapeutic. Until recently I’ve purchased them in the store or online, but no more. You can make lavender bath salts at home — easily and cheaply.

Again, this is a wonderful tip from a customer of ours, and we are so thankful to her for sharing these homemade goodies with us.

Lavender Bath Salts Recipe

Ingredients:
Here are the 3 ingredients that you need:

  1. Epsom Salt – 3 cups
  2. Lavender Essential Oil – 10-15 drops
  3. Fractionated Coconut Oil – 3 tablespoons

Mix it together and you are done. You can add some purple die to it to give it that beautiful lavender color, but it’s not necessary.

Add about 1/4 cup to each bath, and relax!

This also makes a great gift for friends and family. Just place it in a cute jar with a little bow, or some nice decoration, and you have a luxurious, thoughtful and inexpensive gift.

What is Fractionated Coconut Oil?

Some of you may ask what Fractionated Coconut Oil is.  It is a coconut oil that has been processed so that it is liquid at room temperature and does not smell like coconut. With no double bonds, there is no oxidation.  Thus, fractionated coconut oil is a carrier that never goes rancid.  It basically has an indefinite shelf life and is in a perfectly clear liquid form.

Some advantages of Fractionated Coconut Oil

  • It is odorless and colorless.
  • It won’t stain and easily washes out of clothing and sheets.
  • Works great with essential oils, as it absorbs into the skin while reducing essential oil evaporation.
  • It is excellent on skin; a natural and very safe moisturizer, softener and safe, non-irritant lubricator.
  • It leaves skins smooth with no greasy feeling.
  • Low production costs make it cost effective.
  • It can be mixed with other, more expensive, carriers to increase shelf life.  It can also be used it to create different cream textures.
  • It does not aggravate skin problems or clog pores.
